Memories is the debut retrowave album from Chicago-based electronic artist Yuppie Culture. An emotional, narrative-drive release, this eleven-track LP brings together a wide array of styles and influences, ranging from moody ambient chillwave to future funk to R&B inspired dreamwave instaclassics.
With Memories, Yuppie Culture attempts to combine retronostalgic synthwave flare with modern production techniques and edm influences. Drawing on the soundtracks of classic 1980's teen drama—especially the works of John Hughes—this release tells the story of a teenage romance as it goes through its highs and lows. From the anxiety-ridden first date to the hesitant first kiss to the big homecoming dance, and culminating in the final explosion of passionate energy, each track pushes the story forward and puts the listener in the center of the emotion.
